on boxing day 2009 those of us at Te Maika who were lucky enough to be looking towards Te Waitere in the early evening were treated to the wonderfull sight of a small pod of Orcas, at least 4 were seen heading East until the light faded, what a treat

Yes, what an awesome sight that is to behold.....I've spent an afternoon myself a couple of summers ago, watching from a hill @ Te Maika, the orca's cruising and hunting the stingrays in the harbour...You can actually observe the family of Orca's working as a team herding and coralling their prey...Its a pity humans don't work and co'operate in a similar manner  Grin
